Writer’s Fever The need to write is like a fever. It strikes you, you are overcome by it, and the only cure it to put your ideas in a draft of something, anything. But writing is also a somewhat lonely process. Oh yeah, there are writers’ groups you can join either in person or online. But the main things I would urge you to do is find a writer’s group compatible with your writing spirit. I was in one online group(not naming names here) and the leader/administrator was a perfectly nice bright gall. But when she started talking about her acne issues and whether or not she needed makeup for a podcast, and balancing writing with family, I decided that this wasn’t the group for me. My children are grown, and I have been balancing writing with a forty plus hour job for decades. Hey, what can I say? I realized this was not the group for me. I have listened to more You Tube videos on how to promote self-published books, and it has been educational. Some of its free, some of it isn’t. It seems to me that you can have the best book in the world, but if you don’t promote it on the correct channels you may as well take your book and toss it down a well. So I have three books coming out. One Of Gods, Flies and Desperate Lawyers is written in both English and in Spanish. This novel is an urban fantasy. I also have another book which I had written two years ago, Murder on Aisle 67. It’s a cozy novel, lots of fun, and based on some of my experiences selling at a flea market. I have made up my mind to keep writing no matter what. I was bitten by the bug over twenty years ago. Writing is a fever from which one never recovers. In the face an author’s numerous disenchantments, such as rejections from agents and publishers(if they even reply at all) you can’t help yourself. If you were meant to write, you always will. So pick up that pen, crank up that laptop and start writing…
